Obstacles to Openness

If there were no obstacles, everything would already be open. But there are plenty: cultural, commercial, legal and technical.

No obstacle is insurmountable, however; but there may be a balance to be found between total transparency and the protection of privacy. Do corporations have the same legitimate expectation of privacy as individuals, or is the privacy right one that applies only to flesh-and-blood-people, not to bodies corporate?
